They got all the best and brightest minds together to design a 100rd magazine for the AK 74. This is what they came up with.

No information is given, just the pic. The properties on the pic say Mag100-sm.jpg. I'm fairly sure it's a 100rd mag. From the IshMash (http://izhmash.udm.ru/ak74m.html) website.

I'm not understanding how in the world you put it in the weapon?

I remember seeing those years ago. What you didn't know is that they were designed by the bushmen of Australia. It doubles as a boomerang. ;) A drum is easier and more compact.

That mag was designed a very long time ago and only one was ever made. I believe that that gun and the mag with it are now in a museum in Russia. You can probably find out the specifics over on ak-47.net. As far as putting it on the weapon.....not a clue.

Either that or a contract to Poland. :D

As for how to insert it in the gun, there is a ring at the "Base" that slips over the muzzle much like the ring on a bayonet dose (say on an M-16). There is no front lug on the magazine as a traditional AK-47 has. You simply slip the ring over the muzzle and rock the magazine back with the muzzle as a pivot and it latches. Very simple. One could even take 3 thirty round magazines and some time and weld themselves up a rough recreation. Perhaps a 40 and 2 30's or some other combination thereof.

Hey.....That actually makes sense! :D The way to mount, not necessarily a silly magazine that long.

I'm supposing the guy who designed this one got fired soon after the drum magazine idea showed up.

Looks like it is about as useful as 'boobs on a bull boa constrictor'!

They didn't fire you in the Soviet Union, they killed you outright or sent you to Siberia to die a long, painful death.

Does it double or triple the weight of the rifle? :D

That has to be one powerful spring in that magazine. How do you load it or carry spares? No wonder only one was made.

This is what happens when gun designers stay around the office after hours with a bottle of Stoli.

Friends don't let friends design drunk!

Both the 75 and 100-round versions.

Makes for a heavy gun, either size. ;)
