As I just registered on this site and this is my first post, I just wanted to say hi to everyone here. I've gained an enormous amount of knowledge from this forum over the past couple years, and I want to thank everyone who contributes :D

I bought this cheap BSA laser/light combo that mounts to a scope from a local store for my air rifle.

It turned out to be a really stupid setup. I was going to throw it in the garage with the rest of my misc gun parts then I realized it would fit perfectly on the mag tube of my Mossberg home defense gun.

It comes with 2 end caps wired to remote pressure switches that only allow for momentary-on, as well as 2 regular end caps that allow for constant-on. I have the laser wired up, but the constant-on cap on the light.
It may or may not hold up to recoil, it has survived 10 moderate rounds so far, but for 30 bucks it does look pretty cool! The light is effective up to maybe 20 or 30 yards which is plenty for use in my house.

Here are some pictures of the setup if you're interested.

I'd be real curious how it holds up after a few boxes of shells. Have you shot it yet? It does have a certain cool factor...

Seriously... I know that springer airguns have some wicked recoil, but I too am curious as to how it holds up. Super cool looking though!

FWIW: Sportsman's Guide sells two different versions of this - The BSA one, and this one from Barska:

The BSA version is $30, and the Barska one is $40. No knowledge of how they work, but they're advertising that the laser on the Barska has a 1/2" dot at 10 yards. That doesn't sound to impressive to me...

After digesting 50 target rounds, 10 3" Federal Powershok slugs, 15 Remington Express 00Buck, and 10 Express Magnum 3" 00Buck shells, the unit still functions! I had to glue the pressure switch to the forend as the adhesive backing the velcro didn't hold very long. The tailcap on the flashlight unscrewed itself a bit. Other than those issues, I'm very satisfied with this device. For 30 bucks, I can't expect much more. The dot projected from the laser measures 1/4" at 10 yards in complete darkness.

Great. Dunno about long term use but it seems to work here and now.

Good luck....

I have the same one on my 870... picked it up at Dick's. Holding up after 50 rounds... we'll see what time tells. It does make shooting from the hip a breeze.

This is a cool idea, I'll have to keep this in mind for future use.

Update us after some more use and let us know how it's holding up.

Actually, I think higher end scopes for airguns have to be made more recoil tolerant than normal scopes. Has something to do with the recoil on high powered airguns having both a backward and a forward snap. Can't recall the exact details. I bet that set up will last longer than you think it might.

Aha! Google is your friend! Here's a link that explains it nicely:
