Wish I had a floating gun safe....

I hate hurricanes. I live in Freeport, Texas and our weather is in a hand basket at the moment. Wind is gusting to 50 knots, and the rain is relentless as I write this.

Claudette will be a hurricane before she hits, and I am not amused. After fifty years on the Texas Gulf coast, and 15 of those as a Merchant Marine Officer, I have had a bellyfull of these storms. I spent today readying my little house for the blow, and now I'll just stay awake and listen for that freight train tornado sound. I have a wife and an eleven year old asleep, and I hope that they get to sleep through the night.

For the moderators: I wish there were a gun that could stop a hurricane...

Natural disasters are just Mother Nature's way of letting us now she's still boss.

For me, I want to pack a gun in my survival kit for the earthquakes out here.

A gun that could stop hurricanes and earthquakes.....We'd be on to something there, would we not, Winstonsmith?

Hope things pass by on the good side of you, Capn...I know what you're talking about. I might be tempted to hang tight and ride it out from the attic and guard the property lines with my 12 guage later in the day.

If not...

Name a price on the land your house will not be on later this week, Capn. I've been wanting to move to Port Aransas but Freeport will be ok by me. Been waiting for the next big'un to slick up the coast and make real estate cheap there again.

:D

Rabbit.

I went thru ALECIA that hit Galveston back in the early 80's. That was my first hurricane experience. Scary stuff. Didn't get that kind of stuff back in SE MO where I grew up.

There is such a thing. It's called a surplus Soviet submarine. You can stash your weapons in the silos.

Hope things go well for you capnrik, We had a Hurricane hit here about 4 years ago though the wethermen were forbidden from calling it one over a dumb technicallity...

I Dunno about you, but a Huge Swirling black Cloudmass with a Hole in the center driving 280-300MPH winds blowing "buildings" over and 12" of rain in under a day classifies as a hurricane in my book....:)
