Ruger Redhawk Weight Question

How much does a standard 5.5" barreled Ruger Redhawk weigh, abouts? how does that compare to what a standard 6" S&W N-frame (partial underlug, not full underlug) weighs?

How much would a 4" or so Redhawk weigh? Right now, 4" Ruger Redhawks are only available as a custom deal, but given the strength of the Redhawk design, I think one of these with a set of decent grips would be a just about perfect all-around big-bore revolver. However, would it weigh too much, compared to say, a Smith Mountain Gun?

Probably not much of a concealed carry item (either the 4" Ruger or the Smith), but I still like the idea of CCWing a big-bore revolver. (For practical reasons a 5-shot Taurus snubby would have to do most of the time; full sized, big bore revolvers are probably difficult to hide with many wardrobes.)

You'll probably lose about 6oz by chopping off 1-1/2" of barrel. There are a lot of people interested in this modification. Maybe we should work out a group deal. Chop the barrel, recrown, replace the front sight and remove the README file on the side of the barrel (you'll have to unless having a bunch of the letters cut off is okay with you).

ANYONE ELSE INTERESTED?!?

I have an e-mail into a recommended gunsmith to get his prices and see if he would be able to offer a discount.
