I met a coin dealer who has a like new in box Coonan .357Mag Auto pistol. He wants $750. The box has manual, warrenty card, and a Coonan keychain. It only has one mag.

Is this a good price and what is the price and avaliblity of mags?

Great Price and Sorry but the mags tend to go upwards of $100

It needs to have good ole Hellanddamnationloudenboomer loads to run right.

How much do they usually cost and where can I find spare mags? Any good websites?

Here's one (sale pending) on gunsamerica.com http://www.gunsamerica.com/976962459/Guns/Pistols/Coonan-Arms-Pistols/COONAN_B_357_MAGNUM_AUTO.htm

And some magazines: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=83942265

I always wanted one of those. Don't have a clue why, but they seem pretty neet. There was also a .38 Special conversion kit offered. For that, and mags, also keep checking www.gunbroker.com

Also is it a model A or B? That tends to make a difference (I don't remember why) but it has to do with the mags also.

My B works pretty good as long as you keep the velocity above 1000fps and is totally reliable by 1050 with 158's. It doesn't like really, REALLY stout Blue Dot 1300+loads and will start to have extraction/ejection problems. Actually a nice shooting pistol.

Oh, I am shocked at the magazine prices!! I got 5 with my pistol back in early '89...and am really glad I did!

I like mine. Got it like two months ago. It was on consignment with $680 on it, a lightly-used Model B with 2 mags, loading tool (the "keychain") and manual.

The mags are the sticky point with these: from what I've seen on the auction sites, magazines seem to START at about $200 these days. Dan Coonan's site shows that they used to sell them for around $100, but indicates that they're all sold out.
