A while back I asked about this type of bullet.

I was given a box of 500 Winchester 230gr. MC. Winchester makes no mention of this in thier current loading manual. Would these be loaded the same as FMJ?

If anyone also has a good load using Win231 for these I will gladly take that as well.

I load 5.3 with 230 RNL, for just a touch under factory hardball velocities. In your place, I would start with about 20 rounds of your FMJ loaded with 5.0 gr. of 231, and then work up gently from there, not exceeding 5.5 unless you have at least two references in purblished loading handbooks.

While I've used a short ton of 231, I believe it has all been for cast bullet loads, so I'd have to check my references, which are not at hand. I have some good loads for 230 FMJ with Unique, but you asked about 231.

Any place that sells 231 powder should have the Winchester load booklet, for free. And 231 is a popular powder, so other references should be easily found.

Best,
Johnny
