snoop dog and the boyz was down on howards show this morning talking about prison life and such

up comes the subject of being able to make a gun out of a magazine, with match heads, grease and anything for shrapnel

i.e zippers, buttons, whatever

i'm not sure how you touch it off though,

so he makes a point of how we'll never be able to ban guns unless we ban magazines, matches, buttons, zippers, etc as well

It has long been known that you can make an improvised single-shot, single-use shotgun out of a newspaper. some glue, and a nail.

What the gun banners don't get is that in order to outlaw guns, you first have to outlaw the knowledge of guns. All you need to have a makeshift gun is a tube, a payload, and some form of chemical agent for combustion. You can't un-invent technology and try to stuff the genie back in the bottle.

Why were you listening to Howard Stern anyway? :scrutiny:

when I was abotu 12 I made a muzzle-loading shotgun out of a barbell tube and lots of duct tape.

It was powered by match heads, and shot bbs.

I'm amazed that I didn't at least maim myself.

Which is what they did (or tried to do) in Japan, by killing the gunmiths.

"Why were you listening to Howard Stern anyway?"

he's about the only non-lame stuff to listen to around here

everything else around here is preprogrammed, repetitive, demographically selected rubbish :barf:

i mean there are some stations you can tell the time depending on which song theyre playing

and its always the same old crapola, same doo doo ive been listening to for ohhhh, 30 years now

the best rock station of all (whcn) sold out and is now calls itself "the river" and plays hall and oates and jimmy buffet among other equally barfable "light rock" selections

(don't get me started on jimmy buffet fans...)

and i'm just not a big "new country" fan, i like the old stuff

at least howard can actually make you laugh once in a while

when i find him becoming too annoying, i exercise my right to free radio station selection and turn him "off"

james brown put it the best,

"howard isn't bad, he's just rude..."

or another calls him "50,000 watts of 5th grade humor"

:D

and, pdmoderator,,,

yes a regular old magazine like you read, unbelievable, eh???

we used to stuff rifle brass with matchheads and make fuses out of a line of matchheads, man those things really popped.

I once saw a documentry about poachers on some indonesian island where guns are completely prohibited. These guys would drive out into the jungle, build a snare to catch a tiger in, and then build a frirearm with stuff they brought with them. They used the metal part of the steering column that is hollow for a barrel, melted their wheelweights over a campfire to cast bullets that would fit the tube, they scraped the coatings off playing cards to use as some sort of powder that they mixed with match heads. HWne they caught a tiger in a snare, they would use their makeshift gun to put it down.

I have heard it's the red ink.

People I know have a hobby of sealing off the very thin plastic covers used by dry cleaners, leaving a small hole for insertion of a natural gas hose. When the bag is full, the aperture is sealed off with scotch tape, and a fuse is attached and he bag is launched..

The fuse is a cigarette with a paper match head attached near the filter. A bit of smokeless powder sprinkled in the attaching glue provides a more robust flare-up. Waxed paper in the flare-up zone ignites, burns a hole in the bag and ignites the gas. No bang, but a brilliant orange fireball, especially effective if the bag has entered a cloud.

For exra effect, randomly tape firecrackers to the surface of the bag. They all go off. Be sure to limit payload so positive buoyancy gets the works out of your area. The first 30 seconds of flight are critical, because of trees & other obstructions.

For day launches, substitute aluminum foil for fuse & fireworks. It glints nicely in the sun, and should drive ground radar bananas.

People I have known have done this, eveb though I advised them not to, and didn't participate or remain in the area. Itmay not be legal...

ive also heard of funnels, rubber band, nail

gee, i remember another forum i mentioned making a mortar out of pipe and co2 cartridges with a nail taped point to the seal on the cartridge

them suckers will launch pretty far

(as long as the tape and nail separate from the cartridge on launch)

(kind of like nasa does it)

boy did i get flamed at about it over there

you folks are a lot more fun than them!!

maybe a little more dangerous :what:

but defintely more fun

A 1/4" piece of black pipe, a black cat firecracker, a #4 buckshot pellet, a wadded up piece of wax paper to hold the pellet in, a cap on the end of the pipe for the firecracker fuse, and a mounting device of some kind..............

Of course, I NEVER did that.
