AR-15 Magazine Problem

Okay - it's a major maker low profile flattop receiver - budget model, without the dust cover, etc...

The plastic mags that the rifle shipped with work fine. However, when I use known-good (in my Bushy) mil surplus or bushy mags, they run into the bolt carrier - or, if it's locked back, the mag interfers with the bolt cycling forward.

Already have an RMA number from the company, but hey, if it's a simple fix, I could do it myself and save the UPS?

Any thoughts?

Compare the location of the cutout on the mag body for the mag-catch. See if your aluminum ones are higher than the plastic. I suspect that while the plastics work fine for that gun, that gun may not be mil-spec either.

Check against mil-spec. That's the standard to meet up to.

I would send it back to thema nd have them take a look at it. Send along a mag or two of your own. Be sure to send a detailed letter with it describing the problem and stating that you sent in X# of what typ eof mag for them to look at along with it.

I wouldn't know for sure without looking at it but it sounds like your lower might be slightly out of spec.

Sounds like DPMS, to me.
