Night sites for target range use?

Guys,

I've posted on whether to get a Glock 34 or a Sig P226 for strictly range use. Either way I decide... will the included night sites be sufficient for accurate target range use? Or should I just get the cheapest sight option knowing that I'll change to a real target sight.

I don't like target sights because I'll fiddle with them all day long and never really get them any better... might as well use fixed sights that IMO are more durable.

So, are the stock Meprolight night sights on the Glock good enough? How about the SIG night sights?

Most people complain about the factory adjustable sights on the 34, they worked fine for me.
For IDPA shooting I can see where a narrow front with a fiber insert would help alot.

I would recommend getting sights that are close to what is on your carry gun, if you have one.

I agree with MrChicken.

I have two Glocks: 35 and 23. The 35 has Trijicon night sights and the 23 has the stock plastic sights. Using the 23 at the range gives me a better and actually brighter sight vision, especially in day light. Maybe because of the short length of the slide.

The G35 has a longer slide length, the Trijicons are great for night shooting but very hard to see in the daylight.

Just my observations.

The night sights offer the best of both worlds and are no less accurate than plain sights. Just ignore the dots and use the blade and notch for precision.

For the 34, I'd take a look at Heinie Straight Eight Slant Pros. Very clean sight picture with the serrations, plus the two night sight dots are less cluttered than three dots, IMHO.

Plain black rear Warren Tactical or 10-8.
Fiber Optic front Dawson Precision or Hi-Viz.
