I'm not going to be in state during the 9th. I'm probably going to head down there sometime in December, though, if the weather isn't bad.

I'm going to try at a latter date. Opening day will most likely be a bit crazy.
We should meet there, maybe sometime in December?
Jeff.

I got an invite, but it's the middle of the week. It'll be hard to get there with work and all. Triple points on your Cabela's card though!!!

They had a great promo going also. If you take out one of their credit cards, issued on the spot at the store, you received up to $100 off any purchases made with the card. You had to buy something over $500 to get the $100 off, and lesser purchases had smaller discounts. But I was able to get them to price match a new Sig P232 at $649, then I got the $100 off. So the final price was $549 + $45 sales tax for a gun with MSRP of $800.

Big Reno Gun Show, November 30 - December 2
Anyone going?
I went about 2 years ago, didn't think it was that great.

but it is still important to go to some gun shows, because if we let "them"
shut em down , we will have lost an important organizing tool.

I'll be going to the grand opening of the one a little farther North.
There's a store opening outside of Coeur d'Alene on that same date.
If I were still in Carson City, yes, you betcha, I'd be there with you.
Those of you who find yourselves wandering loose in the Coeur d'Alene/Spokane area on the 9th can join me there.
Otherwise, I'll see you all in a few months when I'm back in Carson to finish packing and loading.

I believe they open Nov 16. My dad lives in Reno and I'll be going to see him and the Cabelas the weekend of Nov 30.
I've watched the progress on my trips there. It's gonna be big. It's right next door to the Boomtown Casino complex.

How about a report?

Cabelas, opening day.
Crowded. Noisy.
People from Spokane, Coeur d'Alene, Post Falls, surround areas everywhere.
Parking lots jammed. Overflow parking.
Prices? *Ahem* Yuck.
Hornady LeverEvolution. $19.00 (as opposed to Black Sheep, at $16.00).
Black Hills .223 for $25.00 (rather than $20.00)
Marlin 1894 in .44 mag for over $500, rather than under $450.
Pistols and revolvers pricing pretty much mainstream. Nothing exceptional. Prices tending to be more than other local stores.
On balance, more expensive than Sportsman's Warehouse, and considerably more than Black Sheep.
Nice place, though. It's just that, even at a glance, you can see their overheads glaring at you, and then you feel those same overheads in their pricing.
I'll go back tomorrow and see if they have stuff I can't find elsewhere.
Good to have yet another option, though. Keeps everyone honest.

Cabela's prices are higher than other places on average, but they often have good sales and often send out coupons on to folks on their mailing lists. I would say about once a month I get a a coupon worth 20 to 25%. If you shop smart, you can do well there on the money side of things. But, you need to know what you're looking and how much it goes for elsewhere. Sometimes the coupons/sales only bring it down to a normal price, other times you get a hell of a deal.
Sure is neat to wander around in, though.

I went as well and this post pretty much sums it up, all i got was some Buffalo Bore ammo and a Big Game jerky variety pack....woohoo....
Seriously their prices on used guns sucked for the most part, most everything was at least $100 more than i was willing to pay. The one and only gun that i thought was priced very well was a Desert Eagle for $629.
Ammo prices sucked as well, the only reason i got the Buffalo bore ammo is because its hard to find short of mail order.
Im from Priest River btw

Like everything else, it pays to shop around. I've found that I can get some things cheaper at Sportsmans Warehouse and others cheaper at Cabala's. It's an hours drive for me to either place so I usually call first for a price check and sometimes Sportsmans is cheaper and sometimes Cabala's for the same item. Go figure.
