Have decided to scope one of these rifles. I understand that Millett makes some rings that should work. Which ones? They make two sets of 3/8" dovetailed rings-one aluminum and then the angle lock units.

The problem is the Romanian, like many European .22s, do not use the American 3/8" rail. It's definately narrower.

I gave up trying different mounts, just bit the bullet and bought a set of the "Romanian 22 rings" made by "Kwick-Site" from David's Collectables at a gunshow. Slightly overpriced and they did require a little filing, but now they work very well.

That's what I was looking at paying for a set of Milletts so no big deal, though the Milletts seem a little nicer if they worked. Are they made of aluminum or steel?

Hi, Seems the rail width may vary from rifle to rifle on the Romy 1969 . I just went ahead and D/T the top to except a ruger rail. I tried the Millets to no avail. 10/22 rail and rings laying about now found a new use, along with a BSA 6X24x40 that was collecting dust . Real tree rat getter now ! WVleo

Are they made of aluminum or steel? Unfortunately they are aluminum.

I just went ahead and D/T the top to except a ruger rail. That's not a bad idea. Brownell's has some blank Weaver rails also. There's plenty of meat up there to drill and tap.
