A model 36-1 in like-new condition with 3" barrel. This will be the house gun.

Orig. box -- 2 sets of grips -- cleaning rod -- 50 rounds of ammo: $237

The serial # is: J938xxx. Can someone tell me its date/year of birth?

Here are 2 pics. I'll try to get better ones later...

1. With original grips.

If I am reading SCSW correctly, that looks to be a 1982 revolver.

Nice little revolver.

Have fun with it.

Edit to add... You got a mighty fine deal on that revolver as long as it is mechanically sound.

Nice piece, I would love to find a standard barrel round butt version.

I love j frames, especially the hammerless. My first j frame was a model 60 which served me well for years. They are fine guns.

Nice 36 and nice deal, too. I found two 36s yesterday but can't decide whether or not to pick one of them up. One is a 3" square butt for $325.00 and the other is a 2" round butt for $350.00 with 3 sets of grips. They are both very clean but seem a bit on the high side.

FiVe - Very nice indeed. And you got a good deal as well. SCSW 3rd lists values as 250 good, 300 very good, 375 exc and 425 ASIB. From your pics it looks at least VG. As DaleCooper51 correctly states your SN dates to 1982, an interesting note is that in 1982 a production change eliminated the pinned barrel, and from the photos it appears your gun has the pin, so you got in right under the wire and have a better quality example of the Chiefs Special than ones produced later in the same year.

Thanks all.

It is definitely in very good condition and it does have pinned barrel.

I'm feeling really good about this deal!

Nice price, pinned barrel even. Good show! I live for finding bargains like that, they're not as common as they were a few years ago.
