I'm counting down too, here in Louisiana! But it's two more weeks before muzzleloader season opens in my area.
Are you planning to hunt with your Super Redhawk .44 magnum this season? I remember following the threads last year about the bad luck you had right from the start. I don't remember exactly how it all turned out, but I hope everything is OK now. Handgun hunting is a whole 'nuther ball game, and a great challenge. I love deer hunting and have taken them with archery, muzzleloader, shotgun, rifle, and handgun. The deer which I am most proud of aren't necessarily the biggest bucks I have taken. The archery kills and handgun kills with my own reloads are the ones I enjoyed most, and remember as some of my best (successful) hunts. (I have enjoyed many hunts just as much, where I was not successful You know what I mean...)

Enjoy, springmom & you other Texans; be safe & good luck. We're supposed to get some wind, so I'll likely harvest the leaves that blow-over from both of my lazy neighbors' yards & curse under my breath (or quite possibly out loud if either of the bums come outside, because requesting a modicum of neighborhood courtesy a few weeks back sure hasn't helped. "We never have to rake leaves -- they all blow away." Grrrrr . . . On the other hand, I'm the one with the tools, plow, and knowledge, so some day they'll come seeking help again . . . couple feet of snow ought to do it. Revenge IS a dish best served cold.).

Keano, on this opening day I'm taking my Remington 700. With that many hunters in the woods, I'll wait to do my still hunting with the SRH until another day. We'll be on trails and paths for which the furthest line of sight is 50-75 yards, which is just a tad far for me to feel utterly confident of a good shot (well 50's ok, but further than that and I'm not so certain). Best to take that out when I'm walking through the brush a little later on in the season.
We had venison chili last night...almost finished last year's haul, so we certainly need to score :D I've gotten right fond of venison whenever I want it!
