Ok today has been a really bad day but that's another story. Decided to straighten up and get stuff organized. Long story short... dug out granpa's shotgun and slide the mechanism foreward and snap. The connection rod from the forestock to the internal block broke. It's an older model 25. Never had to get something fixed on a gun before. What's this gonna cost me?

phew that's better than I thought. This a beautiful gun. It was the first gun I ever owned. I am probably gonna pay around $300 for this to get fixed and have a full cleaning and oiling. And then go shoot it. It's a gun that grandpa used and it should be used. Probably from lack of use and probably a few thousand rounds going through this gun caused the slide to finally give out.

I wouldn't think lack of use had anything to do with it, but the 'few thousand rounds' going through it probably did. It's a weak part on a lot of older pumpgun designs, which is why dual action bar designs dominate the field today. Get it fixed and baby it, if it broke once it will likely break again given hard use. Buy a modern design pumpgun for the 'hard use' part.
