I'll be interested in seeing some of the results of this thread. I was looking at a G36 this morning and know next to nothing about it. I *hear* that the baby Glocks are the least reliable of the bunch. Not rattle traps, just less reliable that the full size designs.

Personally, if the G36 was reliable, I'd go that route. Slimmer by a smidge than the G26.

I carry a G23 OWB concealed and it works out for me.

i think the size and caliber of the 23 is almost perfect... i carry a 19. :)

November 2, 2007, 02:53 PM
none of the above...

GLOCK 29 :)

23. just because it's the #23.....

i am not a big fan of mini glocks and especially the model 36, and i prefer the 9mm models, ie the 19 and 17, but of the choices abouve i would say the 23 would be my choice.

Most Glock'ers that I know do not notice a significant difference in the concealability of the 23 vs the 27; that leads the decision to the 23. Although many folks swear by their model 36, there seems to be some meaningful number that have had feeding issues and thus they swear at theirs.

I have the 19 and 26, and by far the 19 is carried more often. ... again, at least for this Glock-er, the 23 would be the winner.

Glock 23.

I'm not a great fan of Glock in any caliber other than 9mm even though I own a G35. I'd recommend you get a Glock 19. By far the best of breed for a combat handgun IMHO.

I *hear* that the baby Glocks are the least reliable of the bunch.
Never heard that except for the small .45.

I vote Glock 27. Carry a G23 mag for extra ammo.

For all day everyday conceal carry, easiest, G27 - recoil follow-up shots might be an issue.. If you are one of the folks that insists on carrying lots of rounds in the gun, G23 - conceal carry is not as easy as the G27 or G36... 45 ACP is always nice in a conceal carry self defense handgun... The Slimline G36 is a great conceal carry handgun, will surprise you with accuracy and recoil is a breeze. BTW, the G23 & G36 will fit the same holster. My pick of the Glocks listed - G36..

All day everyday I conceal carry a G30 with nine round mags. Carries like a G26 on steroids...

What frame size are you most comfortable with? I carry a 23 if deep concealment isn't necessary but most of the time I opt for a 26. Considering how snappy the 23 is, I don't think I'd like a 27.

I just started carrying a G26 with a +2 mag base. Fits my hand well, and it is still a bit smaller than my G19's that I also carry. As it gets colder here in N Texas, I will switch back to a G19. I carry a G19 spare mag and Surefire Tac light with either pistol.

I'm sure you don't want to hear it again, but I too think of the G19 as the best of the breed and carry one daily.I own far more expensive pistols, many in larger calibers, many that carry more rounds or that are smaller or carry better, but none overall work as well as the good ol' 19!

I prefer the 9mm Glocks overall and of those, my fave is the mid-size 19. I guess that would translate to the 23.
I've owned a 36 and a 23 and no longer have them for one reason or another...but I have owned my 19 longer than any other Glock I've owned :D

The 27 is much easier to carry than the 23. Shorter grip and you can also pocket carry too.

I use the Glock 36. It's a very compact 7 shot (6+1) 45 ACP with the factory mags. I have not encountered any reliability issues with my Glock 36. It has proven to be remarkably accurate for a short barreled semi-auto.

November 3, 2007, 01:31 PM
Of your choices I'd pick the 23 but...why discount th e9mm Glock 26? It's what I carry and feel confident if/when the situation arises it will perform without fault.

November 3, 2007, 02:32 PM
GLOCK 36 in 357sig is my choice. Never had a problem with the gun.

I have all sizes in .40. 22, 23, and 27. I make my choice of what to carry depending on what I'm wearing and how concealed it needs to be. I have 4 holsters that I use for these weapons.

The 22: being full size, it's in either a galco cop series pancake or a Blackhawk serpa. Both are regular belt holsters, but great if you have on a jacket

The 23: being the mid, is either in the galco skyops holster or a belly band. I usually carry small of back, but have started using the skypos holster for centerline carrying. It’s extremely concealable. Side thought...I tried the clip that attaches to the back plate of the gun, but decided against it after not being able to carry a round in the chamber.

The 27: being the small, is also in the skyops or belly band. If you decide on this model, the grip extension for your pinky is a must.

I've found that there really isn't that much difference between the conceal ability of the 23 and 27. The real difference is the holster and how you wear it. I'm also a much better shot with the 23 than I am with the 27

Due to this, the 27 rarely leaves the house anymore. I’ve gone exclusively to the 22 and 23 depending on the weather.

I have 2 model 23s, a 32 and a now a model 21. I have looked at the 27 and really have never felt the need for anything smaller than the 23. My first Glock was a model 19 and I would have no qualms carying one again. The 23 gets my vote.

November 3, 2007, 06:37 PM
I would go with the 9mm Glock 19 or Glock 26.

November 3, 2007, 07:04 PM
Got a 17 a few months ago.. No good forr CCW in FL. 26 is in the mail. It should do fine.:)

November 3, 2007, 07:12 PM
I prefer the 23 to many others. It's compact enough to be easily concealed even in hot weather and big enough to permit extended practice sessions at the range.

November 3, 2007, 07:14 PM
I personally believe round count is a lot more important than hole size. My ccw of choice is the Glock 19. Based on that I would pick the Glock 23 from the choices you give.

G23 day in and day out
