I see so many people say I love my 1911 but hate Glock triggers etc.
I own several Glocks, several 1911s, CZ, Sigs etc.
They are different and I know that, and try to learn to shoot each the best I can. Sure I may put a 3.5 connector in a Glock or get trigger work on a Kimber but they all feel very different anyway.

I just don't see how a Glock "Sucks" because it doesn't feel like a 1911 or why a 1911 "sucks" because it doesn't feel like a Sig etc.

So tell me, do you collect across the "spectrum" or just your favorites and if so why?

I like the single action pistols. I have tried several DA/SA pistols, but don't like the transition between first and following shots. I have also tried several polymers with the various names they have for their trigger actions, but they all feel spongy to me. So I have stayed with revolvers (both single and DA), 1911s, and BHPs.
As far as grips mine will be wood or bone. Checkered for semi-autos and smooth on revolvers. I am picky about finger grooved revolver grips as all makes don't readily fit my hand.

Everything I own in the way of handguns 'feels' different. My BHP feels different than my Sig P229. My Blackhawk certainly feels different from my SAA and my Colt Thunderer. Thee's no mistaking a Mauser HsC for anything else. Different grips, yes, and different triggers, to be sure. Variety is the spice of life. Ys, I'm partial to Hi Powers. They've always seemed to be a better fit for my hand than a 1911, but that doesn't mean I don't love 1911's equally, just differently.

You don't love one child more than another, do you?

All mine feel a bit different but some things I can't get over. To me the glock has a weird grip angle (different from anything else I shoot) and some, like the Kahr put my finger at an odd angle that doesn't let me shoot it as good as other guns. I tend to evaluate how instinctive the gun is for me to shoot. I like Sigs, HiPowers, CZs and 1911s and that is about it. I have tried a lot more (oh have I tried) but I always come back to these.

I guess I missinterpeted the grip portion of the thread. The grip of the 1911 and models that copy this angle points better for me than others (Glocks seem to point high for me). I don't really care for most wide double stack pistols, but the CZ-75/85 and the BHP does fit me better as they seem to have a smaller grip circumference. The short grip compact pistols are always tough for me to shoot well.

I collect across the spectum. If it goes bang every time I pull the trigger, good enough for me. I carry the Glock 17 for CCW because it holds a lot of bullets and functions on the K.I.S.S. principle. However, I do buy and shoot a wide assortment of handguns and longguns.

I didn't really think 'feel ' was that important at first.
Later, when I started shooting timed matches I realized that some guns 'point' better (faster target acquisition, easier double taps.), some guns have better triggers (More accurate shooting at speed.), and some grips 'feel' better (Faster draw times, first shots after the draw ALWAYS count.).
That's why a gun that does 2 out of 3 of these excellent, the shooter will often spend the money on correcting the third.
There are many other factors, but these three seem to make the most difference to me.

I like having similar triggers in my collection. My house gun has a similar trigger to my IDPA gun so now no matter what I pick up & point, I know exactly what to expect.

I don't waste my time with guns that have bad triggers and crap ergonomics anymore. That doesn't mean all my guns are going to be identical (that seems kind of pointless to me), but it also rules out alot of trendy/popular hardware that people buy for having virutes not related to how well it puts holes in the target.

seriously, i find the glock middle-trigger thingy tickles my finger. very distracting. i'm fine with all other SA and DA triggers.

Each of my guns feels unique in my hand and I like it that way. Even my 1911s are different from each other -

As far as Glock's feeling bad compared to 1911, etc. - ...something for everyone. ...I don't like them - but its not because they 'suck' - its because I never found one that 'fit' my hand the way I like - they're uncomfortable for me so I don't shoot well with them. So I keep buying 1911s in different sizes, capacities because they seem to work for me. If I don't like a trigger, I change it.
