THe 96 is my favorite 40 S&W. It's the most accurate & most fun 40 S&W pistol I owned & shot...congrat!

Yeah, .40 is all well and good...until someone loses an eye. You sure you don't want something that uses a REAL cartridge, like the .45? :neener:
Seriously, nice purchase. Feel free to post some pics from the range. :)

First gun and it is a Beretta? You sure are off to a good start. My first handgun was a lowly Jennings J-22.:(

That's a fine handgun right there. All the Beretta 92s and 96s I've ever owned have been accurate and totally trouble-free.

man, I wish I had gotten a decent gun as my first gun. My first was a .22LR rifle (which I'm not too happy with anymore, and too wimpy), a .22LR handgun (quite like still...though still wimpy), .380 ACP handgun (better..not quite as accurate, expensive to shoot), and now a .50 cal muzzleloader. I know if I had saved all the money I've spent on guns, ammo, acessories, etc, that I would have enough (or close to enough) to get my holy grail (9mm) handgun. Oh well, nothing wrong with more guns! :D

Well, looks like my first try was a failure, oh well. I think the file was too big. If a moderator would please delete my previous posting that would be great. Ok, here's another try.

Absolutely Dan. Can't wait to get back to school and shoot with everybody again. Next month I'll probably get a .22 conversion kit for my Beretta so I can use it at pistol club. But I think it'll be a bit more fun up at Jasper-Pulaski.

And now . . . . the range report.
Finally got to shoot it today. Shoots perfectly. I put 150 rounds of Winchester white box through it with no problems. Tried to catch my brass on a drop cloth that I brought (I'm a reloader) but the ejection is very powerful and unpredictable. Out of 150 rounds I only managed to save about 50. Other than that it is very accurate and a joy to shoot. The sights seem to be dead on right out of the box.
