I'm wondering if any THR'ers have bought/fired this Russian semiauto(I'm considering the 7.62X39 caliber). I want a fun range-target-plinker. The MSRP is about the same as an SKS in near-new condition.
Thanks!

I was looking at those also, and would like to know how they shoot.

Are you talking about the Saiga rifles? If so, get one, they are great. I personally dont own one, but I love 'em. As well as not hearing any complaints on them, You can get the 762x39 model from CDNN for $159.

Ugh, looks like that model is not going to be as easy to convert it to be have a pistol grip as the normal models. I hope they dont stop production on the true-AK-reciever ones.

Now that I'm all pumped to buy this inexpensive rifle, I go to the California DOJ website to make sure it's CA O.K.: the site has a list of HANDGUNS, but I can't find an "approved" rifle list/it's too late to call the local gunshops/....I sure hope this carbine is CA legal, cause I'm ready to buy one at the CDNN price! :uhoh:
Thanks for responses.......

Can't remember if it was only in certan countys or the whole state, but knowing kalli it's the whole state....

With a magazine of 10, and a cartridge less devastating than most "hunting" calibers, it just figures that the A-Hole CA Governor and his minions decide to throw logic out the window because the Saiga is based on the "Commie" assualt rifle. Why is it, then, that I can own a "CA Legal" SKS?????:cuss: Why is the M1 Carbine legal? Why ask why?
OH, I just remembered why I can't own one....I am a law abiding citizen:banghead:

They're legal because the liberals haven't succeeded in banning them yet. But they're trying oh yes they are.

Yea, but in factory configuration it sure looks a lot better than the previous model. It's actually fairly attractive. It looks kind of like a modern SKS.
