What do you call these things?

Hi,
What do you call the add on part that goes on to slender grips in order to "fill them out" more for a better hand hold?
They are curved to match the curve of the revolver grip area. I've only seen them in pictures and couldn't tell if they are made of plastic or metal, nor could I tell how they are attached.
Hope I've given an adequate description of what I'm talking about.
Thanks,
Mike

Tyler T Grips are made of lightweight aluminum (at least mine are aluminum). They have two small tabs which slip between the frame and the grip. Holds it snug as a bug. Previous post by "enfield" has their link.
I prefer them for J frame carry because wood factory service grips are small and relatively snag free - and the addition of the T grip solves the grip size problem fairly well for recoil control. Yes!, rubber is slightly more "hand filling" and softer on recoil- but rubber grips are prone to snag on pockets, shirts, etc. when you draw under pressure from concealment.

Pachmayr and Smith & Wesson also produced similar grip adapters, but these were plastic and I don't care for them as much.

The term you want is grip adaptor. Mershon and Pachmayr were the best known makers, but the Tyler T-Grip seems best to me.
I especially like it on S&W J-frame .38's with service stocks.
But a replacement grip is often a better solution.

I also like the Tyler T-Grip for my J frame; small, lightweight, relatively unbotrusive, yet fills out the grip perfectly. I remember the Mershons but I thought they were made primarily for larger frame revolvers, like the Smith K and N frame, or the Colt I frame.

I own eight S&W revolvers. J thru N frame. All of them are equipped with factory magna stocks and Tyler-T grip adapters. 'Nuff said. ;)
