Anyone making a modern, reliable, quality knockoff of the Galil?

Like it says, it seems these days that there are copies available of just about every traditional "Main Battle Rifle" from the Cold War era; FALs, HK G3s, M14s, etc.

I am trying to backfill a collection I should have filled before Bush 1 and Klinton were elected.

Anyone making a quality copy of the Galil?

I don't know if Lyttleton Engineering Works in South Africa will export one, but maybe they will. They make the R4, R5 and R6 which are licensed Galil clones. I've used the R5 (select fire) and I can vouch that it is a nice rifle.

i handeled one about a year ago in local gunshop, in .223 and was 1,600.00.it was not worth the money.it would probably be better to build one from a kit.

Yeah, CAI. Aim still has them.

That's why I added the "reliable and quality" statements LOL.

My experiences with Century have never included either of those 2 words. :)

Do you want an honest-to-goodness Galil, or do you want an AK in 308?

For less than a grand, a Tromix Saiga in 308 (ttp://www.fbmginc.com/components/com_virtuemart/shop_image/product/e62a4942cc70fba852225bf3e30788fc.jpg) is a viable option.

Ohio Rapid Fire makes a good Galil:

I am no Century fan, but it would be pretty hard to mess up a Galil build.

Century has screwed up AKs in the past.

Let the enormity of that statement sink in a while.

People without any electricity in the Khyber Pass have made better AKs than Century.

I purchased a ORF receiver which is a clone of the Galil receiver. I also boughta parts kit from them. I'm currently having my rifle built through Hickman rifles. ORF to my knowledge is the only one that makes a Galil receiver in the US other than Vulcan Arms which apparently is junk.

Do a search right here on thr, Century has dorked their galil builds. They've got a recall out already (slamfire, free floating firing pin issue--some say they're fixing something else as well, perhaps headspacing).
(BTW, I do have a century galil and it happens to work fine--galils are awesome)

ORF is your best bet--they're reasonable as well.

Oh, I'd i'm glad to see folks not posting links to knock-off "galil" lookalikes made from stamped saiga recievers. I'm sure they're nice, but they're STAMPED. That aint a galil...

Thanks, I will try to track down an ORF example.
