Subscribing.

I am contemplating A-Max moly, Sierra Match Kings and Nosler Partition for target practice.

kennedy,

Have used the .308 178gr Amax in both .308 and .30-06. Good bullet.

Bergers are more consistant. Its' hard enough to make a perfect bullet, let alone make a perfect bullet and then push a piece of plastic perfectly on it.

I shot the 155AMax through a match M1A for a year and a half. It worked fine. They shoot best when you get them fairly close to the lands, so you'll want to seat them long.

Berger VLD bullets are best shot into or very nearly into the lands; not jump friendly.

I have shot some 75 gr .224" A-Max in .223 and they did fine. I have also had good accuracy from Sierra M.K., Nosler Match (not Partition), Lapua, Berger, and JLK in .223, .308, or both.

There's nothing wrong with the A-Max, V-Max, Blitz King, or any of the other polymer tipped bullets. They are all very good performers.

The Bergers have about .025 higher BC. They are about a foot flatter at 1K and about 6" less drift in 10 mph crosswind. 6" inside the SMK at 1K is worth a scoring ring.

If you want to get into a BC race, then Lapua 155gr Scenars are better than the Bergers.

I like the 155 AMAX for the shooting I do with my rifle. I agree with the individual who said they like to be seated a bit long, however the short jump to the lands in my rifle means the tips drag on the magazine a little bit.

The more rounded profile on the Sierra match kings makes seating closer to the lands somewhat more do-able than it is with the Hornady.
