Is it safe to shoot .38s in a Winchester .357 Magnum Model 94AE? It's my wife's gun, recently acquired from my late father-in-law. Any other info on this gun would be helpful, such as max. safe loads. (I received a 6" GP-100 from his estate -- wondering if both weapons can handle all the same ammo....)

Thanks in advance.

Chris

It is safe to fire 38's in a .357 94 Winchester. I do it quite often. However, some 94's do have problems feeding 38's others don't, depends on the gun. This is sometimes caused by "short throwing" the lever (not working the lever hard enough).

You should have no problems shooting any factory .357 ammo in your rifle. Only the hottest of handloads might cause problems and that's debatable.

Hope this helps.
