Favourite Handgun

After a few beers in a local bar, me and my friends started chatting about handguns, and the usual firearm question popped up: What is the best firearm that was ever made. Obviously a very vague question, so after another hour and three beers each and no consensus, we specialised a bit. And here is the oft asked questions:
What is your favourite handgun in the following categories:
1. Pre 1920 service hangun
2. 1920-1950 service handgun
3. 1950-present service handgun
4. Favourite handgun if you can have only one firearm.
5. Favourite handguns if you could have two handguns.
6. The most beautiful handgun ever made (not because of aftermarket grips or engraving).
Out of three friends (and after another three beers and innumerable tequilas) we got consensus over only one firearm, and that is that the 1911 must be the answer of at least one of the questions!
What is your opinion?

Greeting's All-
And the answer's are:
Question 1 = .45 caliber Colt M1911
Question 2 = .38 caliber Colt Officers Model Match*
Since the question pertained to "service" type firearms,
the Smith & Wesson Registered Magnum was eliminated.
Question 3 = Smith & Wesson model 19 .357 "Combat Magnum"
Question 4 = .45 caliber SIG-Sauer P220A
Question 5 = again the SIG P220A and the SIG P228
Question 6 = Quite naturally, the .45 caliber SIG-Sauer P220A
As you can probably tell, I'm VERY PARTIAL towards the world class
"Classic P-series" SIG-Sauer firearms!:D :uhoh:
Best Wishes,

1- 3 I don't really care about.
4.) - If I could have only 1, it would be my 6" barrel Smith Model 19-4. I'm not overly thrilled about the .357mag,,but it'll do.
6. The most beautiful handgun ever made (not because of aftermarket grips or engraving).
Really a subjective question.
IMHO, the Colt - 1851 Navy Revolver - is the most pleasing to the eye.

1) Colt 1911, followed closely by the german Luger in 9mm.
2) Browning Hi Power.
3) Still the Browning Hi Power, but I like the looks of the P7/M8 and P7/M13.
4) *sigh* my Browning Hi Power :o
5) My BHP, followed by either a Taurus PT92 or a CZ-75.
6) Gotta be the Browning.
I know it sounds like I'm obsessed (maybe I am! :D ) but hey, to each his own.

I still maintain that the walther is a sexier gun than the USP. As good as it is, the USP is utilitarian, the walther is artwork. Otherwise, we share similar tastes.]

1. Pre 1920 service hangun
The Luger-- because the 1911 was still needing more refinement into the 1911A1 before 1920
2. 1920-1950 service handgun
Colt 1911A1
3. 1950-present service handgun
Colt 1911 Combat Commander
4. Favourite handgun if you can have only one firearm.
A 1911A1 built by Larry Vickers using damascus Caspian slide over a Ti frame.
5. Favourite handguns if you could have two handguns.
Same as above along with a pre-1973 4" Royal Blue Colt Python .357 Magnum
6. The most beautiful handgun ever made (not because of aftermarket grips or engraving).
On a purely linear basis my favorite in the Inox Beretta 92FS. It looks timeless and has Italian styling lines that says that somebody took the time to make it look like more than the sum of its parts, unlike so many other "me too" black handguns out there. Even today when confronted by a huge wall display of demo pistols it leaps out.

6. HK P7M8 (the beauty is in the design)
Maybe I'm just an amateur (young 'un?), but I really don't care for the 1911...or other early firearms.
I chose the P220 because it's got the great SIG action that will actually fit in my hand. The P226 is a RCH too big.
The USPC fits my hand like no other. The GP100 because a revolver is what a semi is not.
The P7M8 is simply a work of engineering art. I can appreciate such things.
