Another nubie question from me. When I change powders, shoud I clean the hopper with soap and water or just wipe everything down with a rag?

I'm going from Bullseye (9mm and 45acp) to Unique (.223).

TIA,
Rob

You really don't have to do that, even. Just make sure you don't have any powder flakes or balls left in it. The graphite that sticks to the hopper is beneficial as it doesn't affect any powder, and it helps keep sticking flakes and static down. I use Lee equipment, so I like to run a hopper of Unique through plastic parts to make sure I have enough graphite to operate smoothly.

y e p.........just as fiero said...remember also if you get static problems this winter to rub a fabric softener sheet on your powder measure hopper.. it does help!!

+1 to FieroCDSP.

In 30 years of reloading I have switched back-and-forth from Bullseye to Unique a hundred times or more. Never once did I clean the hopper.

Soap and water ? The last thing I want is ANY moisture near my powder.

Thank-you, gentlemen.

Ya know, if it weren't for this site, I'd still be staring at an unopened box that said "RCBS Rockchucker" on it.
