During the past week, some of our members have discussed .22 revolvers manufactured by the High Standard corporation. Now, these guns were produced before the company underwent bankruptcy and finally reopened years later in Texas. Since then, High Standard has not manufactured any revolvers to the best of my limited knowledge. I was wondering if this corporation has any plans to reproduce it older revolvers or any newer revolver designs. I assume that we have some High Standard fans here that might be able to answer this inquiry. Thanks.

I seriously doubt it. I recently saw an Armscor (Phillipines gun manufacturer), 1911A1, with "High Standard" on the slide. So if someone has the rights to the High Standard name, then their going to put it on whatever product they think is going to sell. The 1911 design is still a hot commodity; 40 to 50 year old .22 revolver designs are not. Having said that, it still would be possible to find some other manufacturer (like Armscor or Bersa), to make an updated copy of something like the Sentinel, the Durango, or the High Sierra; but only if the marketplace will support it.

Bannockburn, thanks for the reply. I agree that the decision to produce certain designs is market driven. Yet, I am puzzled that High Standard, or another company with legal rights to its name, produces semi-auto pistols chambered for the .22 Magnum and .30 Carbine. These are calibers that I did not expect to see in a semi-auto format, so that raised the possibility in my mind that they may manufacture something else I might not anticipate. Thanks again.
