PT145 Magazine Release Sticking

When pressing the magazine release button on my PT145 Milennium Pro, about 30% of the time does the spring release the magazine the way it should. (Spring & gravity does all the work and the magazine pops out without effort)

The rest of the time, when I insert the magazine I can hear a slight 'sproing' and I'll know the magazine will have to be pulled from the frame of the pistol.

It's not a huge issue, but it is annoying....is this a magazine spring issue? I haven't taken the gun down any farther than the typical field stripping.

Any thoughts/advice?

Look in the open ejection port after the "Sproing" and see if the magazine follower has popped up over the slide stop.

The follower should always remain under the slide stop in order to not only lock the slide back, but also allow the empty mag to fall free when the mag release is pushed in.

That must be it, as if the action is open and I insert the mag, most of the time, everything functions as it should.

If the action is closed, it happens more often than not.

Any recommendations on how to fix this?

Also, I have a factory original PT145 mag and a PT24/7 mag that also came with the gun.

I am not familiar with the PT145 or PT24/7 magazine design.

If it has a steel follower, you can usually adjust them by bending the tab over closer to the stop.

If they use plastic molded followers, you might need a new slide stop with a longer contact point.

Or it could be the followers are too sloppy for the mag bodies and shifting to the right too far, allowing them to slip past the stop.

Thanks for the help RC....I'll take it apart and see what I'm dealing with.

BTW...RC...you're bang on.

The magazine has a tiny amount of wiggle room within the frame of the pistol. If it shifts, the slide stop slips under the molded plastic 'shoulder' on the magazine follower.

I'm not sure if Taurus makes an extended slide stop, or if I can solve the problem with a new magazine. Both of the mags I got with the gun look to be brand new.

I'd also surmise (since I haven't shot this yet) that if the slide stop slips under the magazine follower, the slide won't stay open when the last round is spent.
