Winding down from the weekend and enjoying my new desk set up in the bedroom. Figured I might use my new postal scale to see what some of my guns ACTUALLY weight empty and loaded (as opposed to what the manufacturers say).

S&W M64 2-inch 38spl, Hogue rubber grip.
Empty -- 1lb 12.7ozs.
Loaded (158gr. LSWC) -- 1lb 15.9ozs.

S&W M19 2.5-inch 357 Magnum Pachmyer rubber grip
Empty -- 2lbs 2.6ozs
Loaded (158gr Speer Gold Dot) -- 2.lbs 6.2ozs

S&W M66 3-inch 357 Magnum Pachmyer rubber grip
Empty -- 2lbs 3.4ozs
Loaded (158gr Speer Gold Dot) -- 2lbs 6.9ozs

Ruger SP101 3-inch 32 H&R Magnum Hogue rubber grip
Empty -- 1lb 11.7ozs
Loaded (115gr Lyman 3118 flatpoint) -- 1lb 14.3ozs

Baikal Makarov 380ACP factory grip
Empty, magazine in place -- 1lb 9.3ozs
Loaded (Silver Bear 95gr JHP, 8+1) -- 1lb 12.2ozs

FN Browning Hi-Power 9mm Navidrex grips
Empty, magazine in place -- 2lbs 0.4ozs
Loaded (115gr jhp, 17+1) -- 2lbs 8.8ozs

The surprise here for me is that the M66 weighed more than the BHP even with the 6 v. 17+1 capacity disparity. Still, I pack the M66 or M19 just about daily and carry the BHP less then 15 days a year.

Just thought this info. might interest some of you and prompt folks to weigh their gear and post it here.
Regards.

Thanks for the stats. I've often wondered why more "actual weights" aren't readily available.

can you weigh any rifles?

I don't have a scale that will weigh rifles accurately.
