I know there are bunch of different versions of the Beretta 92 and it seems each one is special in its own way. Can some one explain the differences.

The ones I know of are

92

92F

92FS

92 FS Vertec?

96?- .40S&W version?

Also which one of these is the "M9" that our boys in Iraq are issued?

My dad has a 92f compact. Shorter grip, with a mag that only holds 13 rounds of 9mm, and somehting like a 4.25 inch bbl.
