Since ammo isn't free and since I have reloaded so long I have almost no up-to-date knowledge about buying target ammo from commercial producers, would like to hear from Y'All about buying ready-made 38 Special target ammo - eg. 148gr. wadcutters or semi-wadcutters etc.

I'm in Ohio .What East-of-the-Mississippi sources do you like (if any) ? Have your "online" buying experiences been good, bad, ugly ? Any money-saving (or hassle-saving) tips you can pass on? Any sources to avoid? Any favorite loads other than the 148gr flavors ?

The stuff I'm looking for will not be used for anything more than informal target shooting by an almost-beginner who happens to live too far from me to make it feasible for them to depend on my humble Lyman reloader.

All input welcome !! :)

Many thanks All !!

there are many good on-line places to buy. If you search the forum you will find posts about the good/bad.

I wait for the sales at stores like Dick's. you can get ok deals there. Mostly I buy ammo at walmart. you can get the WWB for ok prices. if you want to buy lots of ammo i would look online.

Dick's has been selliing .38spc 158grWC for $37.98 per box of 200 = $.19ea. The brand is UltraMax; it is remanufactured; and it states on the box that the ammuntion is loaded with Accurate powder. Haven't shot it yet but I have no reason to believe it won't be fine plus I will have the brass. I haven't done the calculation but I don't know if you could reload it for $.19ea with or without the brass.

This thread title should be false advertising.:)

I knew something was up with 168 views and only 3 responses.

Check www.mastercast.net. I am well through four thousand rounds of their WC/SWC reloads, and I am a very satisfied customer. I send them a thousand of my brass (Postal Service Priority Mail, eight bucks and change), and ten days later I find the reloads on my front porch. They are almost in Ohio, just across the border in Pennsylvania. Could be you could just drive over and see for yourself.
