Buying a revolver covers a broad range of bases so maybe you should tell us your intended purposes for the revolver.

I just like it as a hobby. I like going to the range and enjoying the day plucking some rounds.

Smith 686+ or a GP100 (if you can part with the 7th shot) would be guaranteed good buys.

I have personal bias, but the poll in my sig line will give you 200+ other peoples' opinions on Taurus.

Yeah, heads up on Taurus - you are likely to get a good one, but maybe not - they are just not quite as dependable a company as S&W or Ruger.

For a first revolver, I would get a Ruger GP100. Not expensive, and will outlive your grandkids.
