I recently purchased a Kimber Ultra Carry II with their standard all black sites. I want to replace them ASAP with a set of night sites but I don't know which is better the Trijicon tritium nights sites or the TruGlo TFO sites. I like the brightness of the TFO fiber optics during the day (even though I think they look slightly like a toy) but I hear that there may be a problem with gaps remaining under the front site and the slide. I have never heard anything negative about the Trijicon sights.

Does anybody have experience with either of these sights. Any information you can give me would be appreciated.

Thanks

While this won't help to much I'm sure, I have and use both types of sights. I have never had a problem with either type. My Glock 17 is wearing the TFO's and my 19 the Trijicons. I like the TFO's for recreational shooting, but prefer the Trijicons on a carry gun. I really prefer the Novak sight picture, and they are now making an adjustable and non adjustable night sight for the Kimber's, which I would recommend over the previous mentioned sights. Hope that is of some help.

One thing nice about Trijicon, they will replace the lamps for you at minimal charge when the Tritium decays. I had a set of sights for a 1911 relamped recently and the total charge, including return shipping was only around $50. I'm not sure if TruGlo has the same policy.

I have both, Trijicons and Tru-Glo's on two different firearms.
First, the Trijicon's were standard (OEM) equipment on my Les
Baer Thunder Ranch 1911 .45 ACP while I had Tru-Glo's installed
on my Springfield Armory .45 ACP XD-F 4" service model. Yes,
there is a small gap beneath the front sight (Tru-Glo's) on the XD;
however it DOES NOT affect the accuracy of the weapon to any
degree~! The Tru-Glo's are the brightest sights I have ever seen;
making sight acquisition very quick and easy. They work as well
in the dark, as they do in bright sunshine without any of the
problems assocaited with other sights; including Trijicons. For when
you guy's and gal's reach my age (60), you will need all the help you can
muster; and the Tru-Glo's help aging eyes~! Trijicon's can be really tough
too see in bright sunshine; but work well on all other occassions~! :scrutiny: ;)

I put Mepros on a Sig 229. Took them off and put TFOs on, after trying them on a Glock 19. The Mepros now live on a XD9/SC. Someday, they will grow up and become TFOs :D

I have had fantastic results w/ the Trijicons and until I find a major flaw in them, will continue to use them on my guns.

Thanks for the info gentlemen. I decided to go with the Trijicons seeing as how I got a better deal on them ($85 including shipping - for me every $ counts). I am also gonna add a set of CT laser grips for extremely low light situations so that made my decision easier as well.
