Keepin' It Simple......
Yugoslavian Underfolder AK47, 5 round magazine, Remington 123gr. PSP , iron sights at 65 yds, 1 shot thru the heart...runs about 30yds and folds up in a heap. The small entrance and exit wound are in perfect alignment just behind the front shoulders. I don't think the bullet expanded or fragmented, It just cleanly passed thru the heart and made for a very clean and quick harvest. This was probably one the most unique hunts with a rifle I've ever had.

Good for you. I love to see/hear this sort of thing. It takes the argument that some of the so called "purists" make away with regard to using an "assault" rifle to hunt with.

I'm certainly no taticoolaholic mall ninja type. However, I aspire to acheive that status someday...;)

In fact, I was actually sporting this years fashionable camo patterns w/ the blaze orange just like the "Fudds" wear.

However, I like to add a bit of irony just to piss off the "better than you" crowd. :neener:

Hunting with the AK just seemed to be a logical and practical choice for me on this hunt.

Non-Sporting firearm.......hooey !! If you had to do all the hiking, climbing, stalking, shooting and then dragging that deer up out of a canyon, I'd call that plenty sporting enough for me. Folding up that AK and putting it on my backside made it whole lot easier than sporting that scoped 10 pound bolt action monstrosity around. I love my AK !!

If I had an ak (so sad I don't, only 1 1/2 years till I turn 18) I would be too tempted to wear a ruskie hat and wool uniform hunting.
