Good places to buy high caps

First pair of high caps for my Taurus PT92 were gun show specials that would not drop free. After an hour with a hammer and needle nose pliars they worked perfectly, but i decided on getting other mags. Found some 17 round "Eagle" mags for a bargain price. They appeared to be tough stainless steel construction and dropped free, but every so often, when you go to ram it home, it hangs up on the magazine release.

Short story, i need good mags for this gun, what are your suggestions and what have you had luck with. I'd like to avoid paying $50 for preban factory or mecgar mags.

Have you been to CDNN website? Download their catalog (Pdf file) and take a look at what they have to offer.

i've been there and they seem to have everything from pricey mecgar's to $12 no name brands. Anyway, if all their magazines are quality, that would be great.

Does your Taurus use the same mags as the Beretta 92? If so, then the Asian Military mags are pretty good.

Never miss achance to put in a good word for the nice folks at www.clipsNstuff.com I have purchased a lot of mags from them in the past and have never been disappointed. Their appraisals as to condition of used mags is always on the conservative side. They will take back any mag your not happy with. If you don't see what your looking for on the website, give them a call, chances are good they may have one or two.
I have purchased mags from CDNN and have no complaints either.

The Taurus 92 can use Beretta 92 mags, but you have to modify the latch cutout.. it's not tough and the one I have that I modified works flawlessly.

I got 2 $19 magazines from CDNN (KRD - 15 round). They're not drop-free, but they release easy & they feed fine in my Browning High-Power. Such a pleasure to put 15 holes around the black!

With these & I think with many normal-cap mags, the springs need a little time to break-in. Took me 4 weeks before I could get the 15th round loaded.

I may have bought from Clips n Stuff, but Mec- Gars can sometimes be had for less than factory hi-caps and are just as good, according to my experience with their products for Ruger 9MMs.

Eagle mags?:barf: :barf: :barf: :barf: :barf: This damn things impacted the extractor and wouldn't lock into place. Total garbage.

USA? :barf: :barf: Bought five of them. The slide stop cutout on each was out of spec. Few minutes with a dremel tool and all was well.

Asian mags? :) Works very well. I bought some from a dealer at a gunshow with the magazine catch notch alweady altered. Your ok in doing this legally since it still works in Beretta 92

I'm told Mecgars are about the best aftermarket available.

Best bet? Get the factory mags. Poke around a gunshows until you find one.

Also, www.gunbroker.com and www.auctionarms.com I picked up 2 this way one of them brand new in the wrapper for about the same price as retail for factory 10 round mags.

Just wanted to mention, I had a Mec-Gar 17 rounder for a Taurus 92 that would not latch in the Beretta 92 I used to have.
