Still looking for a 9mm - Narrowed Down to a Kahr

What do you guys think of the Kahr PM9?

I need a 9mm that I can carry in my pocket without a holster. This one looks to be about the smallest I can find in a high-quality pistol.

If the MK9 is *significantly* less expensive, this might also be another option to consider.

Otherwise - those who have had experience with the PM9 - please comment. I am going to an "evil" gun show this weekend and may pick one up if I can find a good deal.

All helpful comments from people with experience with the PM9 will be greatly appreciated! (Comments from those who want to disagree with no-holster pocket carry will not be necessary.)

Thanks!

just remember to keep NOTHING ELSE WHATSOEVER in the pocket you keep your gun in. No safety and a pocket containing a pen, a comb and some loose change is a recipie for disaster. However, there should be no problems if you keep nothing else in the pocket.

Kahr is an excellent pistol.

I have a PM9 and switch between ankle and pocket carry. I use a Desantis pocket holster and that seems to work well. It adds some thickness to it, but I feel safer having the trigger protected. Overall I am happy with the PM9. Just note that per the Kahr manual, you need to run a couple hundred rounds through it to break it in. Some experience some minor issues prior to break in, mine worked fine out of the box.

Why does it have to go holsterless? I find that the holster really helps keep the gun in place, makes presentation very simple & protects the trigger.
More on point, the Kahrs you're looking at should be fine performers.

My PM9 has been excellent. It is extremely accurate for its size. The trigger on the PM9 is relatively long, but light and very smooth. Do what you want, but I would NEVER carry it in a pocket without a holster. Like DW said, make sure you break it in. Mine had 2 rounds not fully chamber in the first 200 rounds. It's been 100% since then. I have about 700 rounds through mine so far.

Stop! For an MK9, at least, you should really have a holster. Otherwise, it will tend to rotate in your pocket until the slide is down or the muzzle is up. If you do carry without a holster, keeping the chamber empty is also a good idea, as Kahr triggers are fairly light.

The MK9 is a great little gun, by the way.

Get the Kahr PM9! It is an excellent pocket handgun. I carry mine in the front pocket with a Desantis Nemesis holster.

I wont tell you not to carry with no holster. But when the little monster wears a whole in your pocket and your gun falls down your pantleg, onto the floor in an important meeting with your CEO Or in the playland section of McDonalds with a rash of anti mom's....Good Luck! Ive seen it happen.

My PM9 was terribly inaccurate. A trip to the factory was useless. Groups of 14"@25 yds were common and I have read of others with the same problem. I have a P9 that shoots 2.5" easy. The barrels are different between the 2 guns. It was reliable though. My dealer returned the gun to Kahr to trade for a new one. I passed and got a Glock 26, another tackdriver.

Thanks to all for your opinions.

One of the reasons I am not choosing the Glock is because of the light trigger pull. Another reason is its thickness.

If the Kahr's trigger is indeed a light pull, either a holster will be necessary - or another gun will have to be chosen.

I don't have a problem carrying a DA revolver in my pocket, or an auto such as Kel-Tec 9mm style trigger - but something with a trigger like a Glock, etc. -- that would not happen.

I am going to the Salem Gun Show in Salem, Virginia this weekend - it is usually a pretty good show. Hopefully, I will be able to find something there.

Thanks again.

Holster also helps to keep the lint away. VERY important with a pocket auto. I recommend an Uncle Mike's #4 pocket holster. Alot of people also like the Desantis Nemesis, although I have no experience with them.
