Last weekend my wife and I were on a long drive in the country when I saw a gunstore and just had to go in. I was looking for anything muzzleloaded. The partners were real friendly but said they didn't have anything to sell. One of the partners said that he had just bought an unfired C&B pistol from a guy for $60 and I asked to see it. Sure enough it was a Ruger New Army new in the box. I told him I'd give him four times what he paid for it and he said he didn't want to sell or shoot it because C&B was just too messy. RATS!

Everone has their price. Sooner or later. I have had this happen so many times. Make them an offer they can't refuse and they do.
But, I have made some good deals and bought back guns that I had sold and later kicked my butt for selling them in the first place.
Some, think I'm a hawk, waiting, .... I'm really not . BUT when I see they need cash and they have certain guns, I'm right there.;)

You know Wildfire the worst spot I was ever in was when a friend's widow asked me to sell her husband's gun collection. If it hasn't happened to you already run like heck it it ever does.

Buying some great guns cheap from an old timer who was moving into a senior care home really made me open my eyes and realize my own mortality. Get rid of your stuff to maximize your return and to ensure it goes to some friend (even at a cheaper price) gets to enjoy them. $60 for a Ruger Old Army! :o

Now that you mention it . She is not a widow yet but may be soon. She has asked me to watch over that issue. He has many older war rifles etc.
I got pretty nevered up when she brought up the subject. I have know them both for a long time. How do you watch over the sale of an older freinds guns? Not really something I'm looking forward to. I may have to get very generous. I can not bring myself to be anything but too fair when this does happen. I feel I may need to hire an official apraiser to help.:eek:

Selling guns via one of the big internet auction sites is both fair and efficient. You get a good price and nobody feels cheated.

It takes some knowledge and skill to properly identify and describe what you are selling, and a broker can help if you are in over your head. FWIW, I've found that you can lay a gun right on a typical flatbed scanner and you'll often get an excellent image.
