At an OGCA, Ohio Gun Collector Assoc., show I bought a bottle of Clenzoil. it was sold as a lube cleanser and protectant for use when using corrosive ammunition. Clenzoil is a family run company and the patriarch and creator of Clenzoil was at the show and was treated as some sort of celeb. I got on their site and read that it was initially developed for the blackpowder shooter. I've used it since but don't have the long term experience to prove it's worth.

Their site says that it was formulated in 1948 - it must have been a very good year! It can also be used on leather.

From the "customer questions and answers" page:

...The ingredients that make up Clenzoil are a Trademarked secret. However, we will tell you that some of the components are specifically designed to nurture and replenish the natural oils and minerals that wood and leather require to stay strong and beautiful...for decades and decades....

in fact, it actually nourishes the collagen in the leather."

...and it might even get rid of a few of my wrinkles too!
