A guy is selling what he claims is a P01 for a pretty good price, but says he's had it for the last 7 years. I thought the P01 was a pretty recent gun. Anybody know when they first hit the states?

CZ P-01 started around 2003. Perhaps the pistol he has is a PCR (very similar and started selling in 2000). I believe most CZ's have a date stamp (two digit year) on the right side behind the ejection port. If this is an online transaction, just ask him to send a close-up photo of this date stamp.

Manufacture date is stamped on the slide, inside an oval, right behind the ejection port, last two numbers of the year. Probably a PCR, still an excellent pistol.

easy way to tell is that the P01 was the first to get an accessory rail. None of the other compacts got it before then.

I think the PO-1 came out in '03, along with the CZ75 tactical.

The P-01 was first put into production in 2001 overseas, but they didn't reach North American shores until 2003. Mine is stamped with a 2005 manufacture date. Just sent it off to get a full Robar NP3 finish. I'll post pics when I get it back in about 6-8 weeks.
