I saw this movie last Saturday on cable. Awesome SAS training scene and a great hostage rescue in the end. I wonder if the real SAS guys can shoot as well as these guys did. It was made in the early 80's so there is some outdated cold war stuff.

If you have a chance to see this one, do it. I tried to find it on VHS (no DVD available) on Amazon. No go. It's tough to find.

It's based on Operation Nimrod, the actual SAS rescue operation at the Iranian embassy at Princes Gate in London back in 1980. Little-known must-have movie for gun buffs.

On a related note, Andy McNab's Bravo Two Zero is available on DVD; just ordered it from Amazon. Good flick, but finish your popcorn before he gets captured. :uhoh:

It is available on VHS. I have a copy. I don't know if it's still in print or not though. You might try having your local video store check with their distributor.

Personally, I'm still looking for a copy of The Wild Geese. Any leads would be appreciated.

Try ebay or Half.com. I've found some OLD movies(Shane) on DVD there.

I saw a review of "The Final Option" in the early-mid 80's in Soldier of Fortune. Saw it right after that in a video store and rented it. Well worth it. I made a copy of it and watch it every couple of years. Favorite scene? When they rescue Skellen's family...unreal!

Tamara,

Andy McNab details his involvement in the Iranian Embassy operation in his second book. The book details his life and career until the Bravo Two Zero operation.

VOD,

My favorite part too.

Back in the early 1980's I knew a SAS Major, and yes - - he could shoot "that well."

I hated the Punk Rock part. Loved the Skellen family rescue. A small part early on in the movie always stuck with me. It's when the two non-british officers are training with the SAS. It reinforces never totaly trust your Intell and it's not over till it's over.

Another side note; The book "He who dares" as titled for US sale or "Soilder I" in the UK. It was writen by one of the SAS members who went through the door at the Iranian Embassy. Follows his time in the SAS from Middle East to the Iranian Embassy.
