I bought a pistol with a 7 1/2" bbl. from Joken firearms about 2 years ago and it was a piece of junk. The safety didn't work and the bolt face cracked when it went full auto on me after about 200 rnds. Joken had no comment and no solution for me other than for me to pay to have them look at the pistol. I have heard that the Krinkov model is a very good model bu it is a lot more than $500.00 ($1000) from www.rguns.net. The Yugo is a good idea as well. GOOD LUCK.

Century imports and sells the "Champion" pistols in .223 and 7.62x39 that should fit your criteria.

Any experience with these shown below? Specifically the Sierra Arms for $649, or the blonde version for $699?
Just out of curiosity, what is you interest in such a pistol - the cool factor?
I was at a gun show this afternoon with a buddy, and we saw some of the AR 15 pistols. We couldn't figure why people bought them. I can't really see them for carry :) , self defense, or target work.
I am not putting down your interested at all. I am just curious.

One way to look at the AK pistols, they are an easy way to get a psuedo SBR for those who live in a State that does not allow a SBR... just don't add a forward grip of butt stock to it and your good to go...

I've had a AK pistol for some time. Was shooting it a few days ago.
Mine is well made, accurate, totally reliable and a ball to shoot.
I've seen some at gun shows that were so poorly constructed I wouldn't take them home at any price and some nice ones in the $550-$600 range.
Along with the AK pistol I have two .223 Kel Tec PLR pistols and a Bushmaster Carbon 15 (AR) pistol.
Which brings up something Lightsped.
While I'm not getting rid of my AK or AR pistols anytime soon, of the three, the Kel Tec .223 PLR pistols would be the last to go.

Maybe something else to think about.
The AK pistol is a big hunk of iron.
Maybe another choice to consider, as has been pointed out, is the folding stock Yugo. I recently bought this one.
With the stock folded it isn't much longer than the pistol and there's always the stock available if wanted.
The price is right at about $440 also.
Mine has been a reliable, accurate and is well made.

I want one for the simple fact that I don't have one. I too have thought about hw one would actually fire a AK-47 pistol. Do you fire it at waist level or hold it up so that you can look down the sights? Either way sounds kind of questionable to me. Still I want one.
