Well for a first buy stay with commander ( 4.25" roughly or so ) and longer . Other than that just line up the features you feel you need and go for it . IMHO less is more on deviation from the original design , and i dont care for extended safetys , slide stops , or full length guide rods on commander + guns . The 3.5 and under guns can and will get picky on cleanliness , lube , ammo and grip . They are not as a rule good starter guns .
