Which Buck Mark?

I've had my eye on the Buck Marks for awhile now. I'm partial to the Contour (with integrated scope rail) with a 5.5" barrel. Ideally, in stainless and with fiber optic sights and a quickly attachable red dot. Has anyone seen this with a see through mount? I want this for target shooting and carrying in the field holstered for small game.

I'm partly wondering if I should just get the cheaper Camper Stainless and a scope mount. But then of course, I have to remove the rear sight.

Are there other models that have an integrated rail? Are the different barrels (slab, bull, fluted, etc.) really very different in terms of accuracy? Am I on target here?

The "Hunter" model has an integrated scope rail and usually runs about $325-$350. Also has a nice-looking set of wood grips,

Buckmark is a quality pistol, should last a long, long time, which is why I would skip on the Camper, spend a little more for a Buckmark without the plastic sight base.

The Hunter is sweet.

If I were you I'd look for a new, old stock unit that doesn't have the magazine safety.
The older models that have heavy bull barrels and rails are the 5.5 Target and 5.5 Field.

I've been lusting after the Hunter model as well. It is damn pretty. I was actually thinking that it's beautiful enough that I would love to buy one, use it for a while until it starts showing finish wear and then send it to Ford's guns for a master blueing job and get an awesome deep blued finish on it.

I've got a URX stainless with a red dot. Love it.

I'm looking for a new 22, and came across that lite. What is it, a pound lighter? How'd they do it, it looks the same.

The "lite" models have an aluminum barrel sleeve with a steel liner.

call me silly, but i love my buckmark camper -- i actually like having open sights on it (even if partially plastic -- they've worked for me this long). i use it for plinking and general cheap fun at the range... it might not be competition quality out of the box, but it's pretty damn fun. i typically only shoot it up to 25yds (at paper anyway, cans/clays/other fun targets further) and have great results (very seldom up to 50yds for targets -- at that range with open sights the groups open up quite a bit, but that's mostly my fault and not the gun's).

if you want to punch paper or shoot competitively then invest in more with a rail for a red dot or scope, but if you're out for plinking fun then i rather enjoy open sights.

I have a camper, and agree that I'm not so fond of the plastic top rail. I got a Tactical Solutions rail, which is very nice, and mounted a red dot on it. You can get one with or without the integrated rear sight. I got one without, which is working fine for me, but I do sometimes wish I'd gotten one with the rear sight.

Whatever model you choose, I'm sure you'll have a blast. I sure do.

There is! In my dreams....

I hope I wake up soon and hear either ruger or browning is doing one in the magnum version, if so I will buy a few for my grandchildren to play with when they are old enough...In the mean time I will have fun with them :D
