I bought a Springfield Armory M1A last year and due to illness am just getting around to shooting it seriously. I was sighting it in at 100 yards and am shooting straight but about 6-8" high. The manual says that separate sighting instructions were included but I never saw them. I am wondering if I have the elevation setting wrong. The elevation knob (marked M, for meters I assume) has no setting marked for 100 yards. As you dial down past 2 the next number you reach is 12. Where should I have this knob set for shooting at 100 yards?

rotate the left knob (windage) to center the rear sight on the center line.

zero for windage only at 25 yards by loosening the front sight screw and drifting the front sight the appropriate direction. retighten screw.

zero the elevation at 25 by adjusting the right (elevation knob). ignore range numbers.

zero at 100 yards. then loosen the screw on the elevation knob, allowing the range disc to move without moving the sight. move the range disc to the unmarked line under the 200. tighten screw. you are now zeroed.
