Question(s) for you hunting riflemen.
What reticle(s) have you hunted with ? What is your favorite hunting reticle ? Do you have favorites for different cover (that you've actually hunted with) ?
Speak to me ! :)
Thanks All !

The Leupold invented Duplex, or Dual-X type is very hard to beat for general all-around use. There are many different names for them, but everyone makes some form of it, and they are the most widely sold reticule design of all time for a very good reason.

Duplex for game, fine cross hair for varmints. Never used covers except when it's raining or snowing.

The reticle I prefer on my hunting rifles is Leopolds "Boone & Crockett". Used with a range finder and verified with your load they take all the guess work/"hold over" out of the equation.

I have three old Weaver K2.5 scopes on a rimfire, on a 30-30, and on a 44 mag. All three scopes have a post and horizontal crosshair reticle. I have hunted with all three, and continue to do so. It's very easy to quickly pick up the post, and they don't have to be treated with kid gloves. ;)

Leupold duplex reticle has worked great for hunting deer in eastern hardwoods.

I like the duplex/nikoplex or whatever you want to call it. I hunt deer in western PA and it works fine for me.

Assuming you are talking about deer +- size animals…I’ve used a duplex more than any other. That being said the Shepard scope with dual reticles (1 first focal plane, 1 second focal plane) one being range finding/trajectory compensating is my favorite. One shot zero, good glass, and no knobs to twist or batteries to fail for a “no hands” zero at distances. If you were thinking of small game you can save a few $ and get a Pride Fowler for .22's(lr/mag), they are similar in concept to the above “Boone & Crockett” but graduated for elevation to 200yds.

Been using the duplex reticle for a long time. Might be better stuff out there, but I've not had any particular need...

I like 30/30 reticules, i think they are also called duplex. I have got this scope with a really complex pattern of horizontal lines in it, i think it is all about range judging. but i just use the central cross and aim off where i need too.

Post cross hair has been my favorite for years in most medium to
heavy cover. Multiplex for most do everything. Target cross hair or
dot cross hair with high magnification scopes:)

I like Leupold's LR Duplex, in either the normal or varmint pattern. I have a normal one in a VXII 3-9, and the varmint one in a VXII 6-18.
A brief description of the Leupold LR Duplex is that it has a couple of extra "bars" below the normal fine crosshair intersection, on the vertical crosshair. The shooter uses these for predefined "holdover" at 300 yds & 400 yds, with the rifle sighted in at 200 yds. Works great.

Duplex (or variant) on all my hunting guns. Good friend swears by his Shepherd scope. That reticle looks very interesting, and I'm tempted to give it a try.

What reticle(s) have you hunted with ?
leupold fine duplex, leupold wide duplex, leupold heavy duplex, zeiss z-plex, burris ballistic plex, nikon niko-plex, nightforce's etched glass version of the ballistic plex, leupold's varmint hunter, nikon's bdc, and pentax's version of the ballistic plex.
What is your favorite hunting reticle ?
for varmints and targets at distance, leupold's fine duplex. for big game, zeiss' z-plex.
Do you have favorites for different cover (that you've actually hunted with) ?
no. i have some i distinctly do not like because the reticles are too busy, though, and in many cases they aren't on at the further distances like they are advertised. if you really want correct drops put into your scope you need to shoot your rifle and actual load and develop your own drop chart from actually shooting the gun, and have a custom reticle installed.

I use a duplex reticle, used to use a Crosshair/post restical in a Redfield scope. I really like the post reticle but as others said, they are very hard to find unless you have a custom one made.
