I can never get my hangun barrels completely clean without much repeated effort with bronze brushes followed by patches. Is there an easier way? Can I immerse my barrel in something that will remove all the fouling with limited effort? Thank you.

Are your barrels worn or pitted ? I use an Engish product called Phillips barrel cleaner,it is available in the US.One pull through always does the trick.

No significant wear or pitting. Just looking to see what people use that is thorough and quick.

The http://216.243.198.184/aspx/ns/store/productdetail.aspx?p=9704 ,Outers foul out, should get you back to bare steel. However, you should go to http://www.schuemann.com/ (he makes some of the finest handgun barrels used in competition) and scroll down to barrel cleaning 1st.

Never heard of Foul Out, but it looks like it might be a good product.

Hatcher mentioned that the barrel has tiny porosities that sweat out additional crud a day or so after the initial cleaning. So he advocated another pass of the mop a day later, IIRC.

"repeated effort with bronze brushes"

Any solvent that will dissolve copper will slowly dissolve a bronze brush and leave some of it in the bore. Other than that, the steel will sweat out additional crud.

I don't worry about cleaning to perfection anymore. The older I get, the less I worry.

BIG G . . . "Hatcher mentioned that the barrel has tiny porosities that sweat out additional crud a day or so after the initial cleaning. So he advocated another pass of the mop a day later, IIRC."

I remember the older shooters also mentioning this. Wasn't Tetra supposed to fill those microscopic pores so that the inside of the barrel was theoretically smooth and it would also help by adding velocity to the bullet??
