Do I need to worry about leading when shooting Winchester XPerts and Remington Thunderbolts? They are not coated. Thanks.

No.

If they are not copper washed, then they have a wax film lubricant on them.

Leading is never a problem with any good .22 barrel & ammo.

The factories figured that out about a hundred years ago.

I've shot a boatload of CCI bulk lead and Win X-Perts in a 10/22, and so far no significant leading.

At times, I've been told I was slow. This is the first time I've been told I was a hundred years slow.:)

Thanks RC and jake for the responses. It seems that I also worry about things that I don't need to worry about.

I think Winchester X brand .22's just had a recall, somethin bout too much powder.
"Olin Corporation, through its Winchester Division, is recalling several lots of its WILDCAT® 22 (Symbol Number WW22LR) and XPERT® 22 (Symbol Number XPERT22) 22 Long Rifle rimfire ammunition."
Dont know how current this is but I saw it over on the Firing line.

remmy thunderbolts???? really , you want to do that, the worst known bulk ammo if you hang out in the world of rimfire....

In my experience the worst .22 ammo is remington's famous golden bullet. The thunderbolts are a little better. At least they go bang every time.

Some new 22's advise against cleaning the bore after use. Just clean out the action periodicaly to keep powder residue from building up. I may run a couple of patches down the bore once a year or so.
