Hey everybody,
I have a quick question. I have a 10/22 project rifle. I eventually want to mount a red dot on it but right now funds are low due to Christmas.

I have a cheep NcStar 3-9x42 scope collecting dust on my closet shelf. I am thinking of buying some rings and mounting it on the 10/22 for a temp. measure.

Is it worth the money even with "bargin" rings(I have the bases already) to mount the scope or just save my money until I get my red dot later?

I just use the rifle for fun plinking.

Thanks,
e'trode

P.s. I do not need any suggestions on red dot scope brands. I already have that covered--thanks.

I think even a cheap scope, assuming the adjustments track and you can get it zeroed, will be so good that you will drop the red dot plans.

Walmart sells see though scope bases for 12.00 for your 1022 that should be tall enough for your scope.
