Just bought a new safe

I just brought home a new Stack-On brand 8-gun floor safe. I paid $80 bucks for it. I thought I'd mention it because I'm very impressed with it. It only weights 50-60 pounds but it includes mounting screws for the floor or wall. I live in an apartment, so I can't attach it to the building, so I'm hoping that the added weight of all my firearms and some ammunition will keep anybody from walking off with it.

It's not rated to withstand a fire, and I'm sure about 15 minutes with a crowbar will defeat it, but it sure is a lot more convenient than the pile of trigger locks I had been using. It was also exempt from Massachusetts sales tax. When's the last time you heard that? :)

Yeah, a gun safe is always a nice investment in securing your babies ;)

Since you can't bolt it down, buy some bags of lead shot. Pray that a thief who tries to move it gets a hernia.

BTW, my very first cabinet was a commerically made gun locker that, well, looked like a big locker (dark brown body w/tan doors). It was suppose to hold six but I found with some fitting, I could fit 14 long guns in there. Today I have a safe and that gun locker is now a bookcase.
