I have used one of those screw type dent removers. They work OK, but are a bit tedious.
I can't imagine a wood dowel removing dents - it would just conform itself to the barrel, not vice versa.
Sounds like the advice to use a wood dowel to drive out a stuck bullet. The result is a stuck bullet, plus a splintered dowel. I don't know where the "experts" get that nonsense about wood dowels. I guess they are so afraid of scratching the bore they will recommend anything soft, even if it makes things worse.

I agree. I do mostly pistol (auto) and AR15 work and don't do or know much about shotguns. It was one of those (range experts), you know the type the kind that talks so loud everyone can hear him and his expert info during rapid fire.
Now I don't feel so bad about telling him he was nuts.
Guns - out:D
