Interesting discussion they got going over there. It started out with the discussion of plans for a gauss pistol, but quickly got even better. I'm not going to post the discussion here, as the language can get out of hand at times, but it is definitely worth the read.

I will argue against reading it, I breifly skimmed thru it and after reading it in some detail, wanted to throw my monitor out the nearest highest window.(1) Some of these people need to go to the PRK and then we need to kick the PRK into the pacific. (assuming we get all of the pro-2nd people out first.) I found just skimming it to be infuriating. Stupidity has that effect on me for some reason...:banghead: :cuss:

(1)Remember kids, its always the output device's fault.:scrutiny:

Hey Moparmike, you didn't keep reading past the first few, did you? There's a lot of arguing back and forth by pro and anti alike, rude and polite from both sides. My favorite rude exchange (which was modded +5 funny)

I wish all you gun-toting f**ktards would just go create your own nation,

We did. Who the h*ll let you in here?

That was when I started getting agitated at the ignorance of some people. I did keep reading beyond that point, hence my post.:o

If a 1911 is good enough for Honor Harrington, it's good enough for me!:neener:

Oh yeah, been using that particular bit of vernacular for over a year now. It comes in quite handy for all kinds of things and people:D .

Ah yes, good fun space opera. I'm still annoyed I managed to miss the card game that could have got me in to one of David Weber's Honor Harrington novels. *grump* (even if he did put everyone in that particular card game in to the book just so he could kill them off ...)

for a second i thought someone had caught us at work talking guns. then again that wouldnt be hard, just poke your head out onto the smoking porch. having 3 or 4 gun owners and rkba supporters in a small building....guns come up more than computers....being we work on them all the time :D it gets old talking computers

It odd but, i have found actual REAL LIFE geeks (not necessarily the ones that pretend on the internet) to be largely pro-gun or at the very least undecided and open to discussion. Wherever i have worked i can almost always talk guns to the guys in IT.

It would be nice if I could actually read the damn thing. Is there any way to show all the posts without having to click through the little side discussions?

Ahhh, a veteran Slashdot member, eh? :p

It's common for slashdotters to comment on the article without reading the whole thing.

Triad, (and anyone else)

By default if you read Slashdot not logged in as a user you will see the posts with a Threshold of 1, Threaded, Oldest First. If you look at the top of the very first message there's a way to change those settings. I have mine set to a Threshold of 3, Threaded, Oldest First. That way you see all the messages without having to click through, but only the ones that have been moderated up to +3 or higher (trust me, you DON'T want to read at -1).

(yeah, I'm a Geek, I read /. and THR)

BryanP, thanks that helped.

Triad,

No prob. It probably would have helped more if I typed what I intended, which was to select "Nested" instead of "Threaded." *sigh*

Man, I hate forums that are formated in that way. Im sure the content is very interesting...too bad its not out there in an easy to follow structure.
