What do you guys use to transport a handgun for CCW via an airline?

I was told by TSA today that a lockable Glock case is not allowed.

I remember reading an article by Ayoob not too long ago that talked about him traveling with a Glock 23 and I could have sworn he had a Glock case.

I've read the TSA page (http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/assistant/editorial_1666.shtm) and I don't see why it wouldn't be good enough, but even so I figure it would be nice to have a small quality case to travel with that I can put in my luggage when I arrive at my destination.

Anyways, I know I need to get a case for the firearm and was thinking it might be nice if the case has a compartment for ammo. Metal would be nice. I have a metal laptop case and it seems to be indestructible.

What's out there?

Doesn't Massad travel with pistols locked in their plastic case & then locked inside his regular luggage?

When I fly, I use either my Kalispel case or Cabelas Bulletproof aluminum cases. These cases use padlocks, not those cheap combination locks that are typical of so-called "TSA-approved" cases.

Right now, I'd recommend the Cabelas brand because Kalispel quality goes up and down.
